Working there part-time after she had her son, current owner and modish mom Jennifer Taylor knew the store had much more potential. Two years ago, Peanut Butter & Jelly got a makeover when maternity fashions and children’s furniture were added to the store.

While pregnant, she went to Raleigh for maternity clothes and to either Raleigh or Charleston for children’s accessories – and she wanted to bring those things local to Wilmington. Now, the store is broken into three stores, all adjoined, featuring a children’s clothing store, an up-scale maternity boutique and a nursery furnishings store.

“There’s no other store like it; it’s a one-stop shop for the expecting mom to shop for fashionable clothing and nursery items,” Taylor says. And more often than not, her relationship with the customers continues for years to come, as she offers clothing for newborns through 1st graders.

While strolling through the lively, colorful and upbeat boutique, your eyes first take notice of the inimitable collections of children’s fashions in which to outfit your tiny tot. Offering Chatti Patti, Kissy Kissy, Anavini, Pixie Lily, Zutano, Baily Boys and more, your bouncing bundle of joy is sure to be the best-dressed, whether cruising in the car seat or romping around on the playground.

The next stop through the store is the maternity boutique, where women truly can find the right pieces to show off their flair for fashion – whether they’re in their first, second or third trimester. Time holds no bars on being fabulous and fashionable at Peanut Butter & Jelly.

“We really pride ourselves on building relationships and continuing them,” Taylor says. “When they’re in here shopping for baby – or for themselves – we want them to be comfortable, feel appreciated and know they are being     taken care of.”

As for the elaborate and beautiful nursery furnishing section, you can find the Young America Collection by Stanley, Oeuf, Ragazzi and Little Castle, which all provide high-quality furniture, sure to comfort your little one and add au courant edge to the nursery.

When it comes to bedding, you can choose from ordinary to extraordinary, time-honored to trendy. Peanut Butter & Jelly carries an amazing selection from Dwell, Caden Lane, House Inc., New Arrivals and many more. “Shopping for the first baby is a very special experience,” says Taylor, who speaks from experience. “Customers get one-on-one attention when shopping for nursery.”

If you’re looking for that “special something” for a birthday, baby shower, or perhaps “just because,” you’re sure to find something splendid – be it hooded towels, Trumpette socks or plush blankets. There are plenty of options to choose from.
